Prayer

"Blessed are those who understand/We have nothing to bring but empty hands..."

Prayer is NOT coming before God with a plan. It is not presenting God with what He should do as if we know the best for our lives.
Prayer is NOT bargaining with God --as if we had anything to offer!
Prayer is NOT tentative - our Father loves us and knows what we need before we even ask!
Prayer is NOT complicated.

Prayer IS a confession of our utter dependence on God.
Prayer IS an utter confidence in Him.
Prayer IS baring of soul - and transforming of soul.
Prayer IS casting the pray-er entirely on God's will, God's resources, God's power, God's provision ...and God's Lordship of the pray-er's life. Genuine prayer is always preceded by (and precedes! :) ) genuine surrender.

Prayer IS talking to God. Isn't it amazing that we can talk to God anytime. The same God who was at one time inapproachable because of his holiness and our sin! We can now come before him and TALK to him. Yes we must be respectful but there is no need to fear when we approach the throne of Grace. We can ask and he will answer. (Hebrews 4:16)
