Favorite translation of the Bible: New King James Version
Why? Because I like its language and syntax, in general. It tends to express things with language that has depth of meaning, versus the more "modern" language of the more "modern" translations.
Favorite verse/life verse: from Psalm 118- "This is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes"
Favorite verse not in the NKJV: from Philippians 2- "He [Christ], who had always been God by nature, did not cling to His prerogatives as God's equal" (PHILLIPS)

I agree, I like translations with more depth of meaning expressed in the language. It is more enjoyable when you can take a few words and extrapolate the greater depth of meaning into many things. Especially when trying to get as many definitions as possible off of a couple of verses. :)
Of course, I make do with what I have, and the truths of the Bible are beautiful--whether or not you have more expressive language.
As such, some of my favorite verses(over half a chapter :) ) are in Romans 8.(NIV)
"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. ...Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. ...Therefore brothers, we have an obligation--but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. These are but a few of my favorite verses...I would write most of them, if I had the time, but if I did I would be quoting most of the Bible. :)

I would have to say that I use a variety of translations in my personal Bible study. The NKJV is the version of my big study Bible, but I regularly use an Amplified version as well.
My favorite verses would cover basically the entire book of Proverbs; however, I'm also fond of all the times Paul talks about being set free.
My favorite Versoin of the Bible is the Hebrew Version and transaltion although I can read it when it was read to me is Isreal the transaltion some verses that I had not understood before became clear to me. As for favorite verse I will think about that andd post later.
I use the ESV Study Bible and I generally tend to lean towards ESV. I don't really believe that versions should be so divided. This is God's Word!
My life verse is Psalm 126:3, "The Lord has done great things for us and we are glad!"
I also like Ephesians 2 in general as an outline of the gospel and Romans 8:1, "For there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
